What are HIV and AIDS?
HIV is the abbreviation of human immunodeficiency virus. The name itself holds the meaning of the virus’ actions, namely creating a deficiency of the natural immune system in men. AIDS is the abbreviation of Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome. Being HIV positive does not necessarily mean having the disease AIDS. You are only diagnosed for AIDS if the HIV damaged your immune system so that it causes infections and illnesses that, with a normal immune system will be defeated by the body. These infections can be life threatening.
